Carers’ Service

Accord members were heavily involved in the development of the North East Lincolnshire Carers’ Service

A year before the service was ready for renewal, Accord members were asked to share their views on the Carers’ Strategy so North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) could fully understand the needs of local carers before looking for an organisation to provide the service. 

Members were invited to take part in the tendering process and reviewed submissions from potential bidders. Their feedback affected the final decision.

This piece of work was shortlisted for an award because of its innovative level of carer involvement. The year’s careful planning secured the future of carers’ services, thanks to the input of Accord members.

The new seven-day service launched in April 2014 with a dedicated centre in the centre of Grimsby. It offers:

• Specialist advice and information
• Advocacy services
• Specialist benefits advice
• Holistic therapies
• Counselling
• Befriending
• Social activities and outings
• Carers’ support groups.
