Caring For Our Communities 2022 Report

NHS North East Lincolnshire CCG (NEL CCG) held its first virtual event of 2022 which took place on Wednesday 26th January between 5pm – 6:15pm. Members of the public, Accord members, and representatives of local organisations joined the Zoom webinar ‘Caring For Our Communities 2022’ to hear about the latest work of Pharmacies, Stroke Care, Cancer champions and about how to access the Single Point of Access in North East Lincolnshire.

Caring for Our Communities 2022 was hosted by Mark Webb, Chair of the CCG. You can view a full recording of the event by clicking here (this link takes you to an external video hosting website.)

Our first speakers were Linda Dellow, ConnectNEL Manager at Centre4 and Lorraine Pook, Social Work Practitioner for Focus Independent Adult Social Work to talk about the Single Point of Access (SPA). They explained what SPA and ConnectNEL are, how are they working together and what support they can provide to people in NEL.

Next, we had a presentation from Carolyn Haywood about Pharmacy services in NEL such as Minor ailments scheme, vaccinations, consultations and new developments such as the community consultation service and the hypertension case finding service.

Our third speaker of the evening was Brian Page, Volunteer Cancer Champions Trainer for the Care Plus Group. Brian spoke about the Cancer Champions training and the positive impact it is having on raising awareness of cancer symptoms in NEL and contributing to better outcomes through earlier diagnosis

Our fourth and final speaker of the evening was Dr Asem Ali, Consultant Physician in Stroke Medicine, at North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals Trust. Dr Ali began by talking about raising awareness about the symptoms of stroke so patients can get the treatment they need faster which contributes to better outcomes for them

The event closed with a question-and-answer session, giving people the opportunity to quiz our speakers. A wide range of topics were covered in the questions. You can read the questions, and answers, by clicking here

Our next event virtual event ‘Way Forward 2022’ will be held in April. We will share more information in the coming months, and please spread the word to your friends and family and encourage them to join us to find out more about health and care in North East Lincolnshire.
