Speech and Language Therapy Survey

Speech and language services supports many children and young people in our area to overcome difficulties in how they communicate or with eating, drinking and swallowing. They are vital services to help children and young people get the most out of these important years of their lives and support their families.

Currently the service is provided by different teams dependent on a child or young person’s age or their individual need. This could be support from staff at a Family Hub or at your school or therapists at the hospital.

Staff involved in speech and language services from these different organisations are now coming together to discuss and agree a shared vision of what they think services should look like and how they can best meet the needs of local kids and their families. We can’t do this, however, without the input of people with first-hand experience and we’re keen to hear the views of families, children and young people who use or have used the service

We are also keen to understand your experience from before, during and after the coronavirus pandemic as we know things have had to change because of the restriction in place to keep us all safe.

Cllr Ian Lindley, Portfolio Holder for Children, Education and Skills with North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “It is exciting to have staff from different organisations coming together to create a shared vision for these vital services. However, this is only one part of the puzzle and to build a full picture of what works well and what can be improved, we really need you to take part and share your experiences.”

Sharing your views can be done in a number of ways, completing a survey via a weblink, QR code, post or over the telephone.  The survey has 17 questions and should take about 10 minutes to complete.  Responses are anonymous and the closing date is Wednesday, 21 April 2021.  You can also call us and discuss your experience over the phone or if you are interested in taking part on an ongoing basis, you can become a member of a Service User Focus Group.  Please see below for further details:
