Caring for our Communities 2021

NHS North East Lincolnshire CCG (NEL CCG) hosted our third virtual event of 2021 which took place on Wednesday 28th July, 4pm – 5:30pm. 23 members of the public, Accord members, and representatives of local organisations joined the Zoom webinar ‘Caring For Our Communities 2021’ to hear about the latest work in Adult Social Care, the roll out the Covid vaccines in Care Homes, and support the health and care system in North East Lincolnshire is providing to care homes.

Caring for our Communities 2021 was hosted by Mark Webb, Chair of the CCG. You can view a full recording of the event by clicking here (this link takes you to an external video hosting website.)

The first speaker was Bruce Bradshaw, Strategic Lead for Long Term Care who talked about how care homes have managed during the pandemic; the work the CCG & partners have done to support providers and what lessons have care homes learnt from the pandemic?

The next speaker was Nic McVeigh, Service Lead for Carers & Communities, who spoke about Discharge arrangements during Covid. Some of the areas covered were: Hospital discharge pathways; how well we are doing with hospital discharges in North East Lincolnshire (NEL) and Hospital discharge next steps. Nic also talked about what the Cambridge Park facility is, progress with the service and next steps

Our third speaker was Amy Clarke, Care and Independence Programme Manager who talked about Extra Care Housing and Connected Tech.

Our fourth and final speaker was Bruce Bradshaw again who gave an update on the Support to Care Homes Programme.

The event closed with a question-and-answer session, giving people the opportunity to quiz our local health and care leaders. A wide range of topics were covered in the questions around Adult Social Care such as staff shortages and cost. You can read the questions, and answers, by clicking here

Our next event virtual event will be held in the Autumn. We will share more information in the coming weeks, and please spread the word to your friends and family and encourage them to join us for our next event.
